Goodwill for Tet holiday

It is easy to recognize volunteers doing their work as the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday is coming. They have brought Tet gifts to disadvantaged people across the province.

Binh Dinh Vice Chairman Nguyen Phi Long is helping a primary student to wear the coat donated by the Youth Union.

The volunteer campaigns have started since early January, through different activities, including fund raising and gift collection from the youth.

According to the Secretary of Binh Dinh Youth Union Nguyen Xuan Vinh, more than 1.6 billion VND were raised to present over 3,200 gifts to people living in disadvantaged areas.

Starting from the centre of Vinh Thanh district, the Youth Union’s members had to travel for nearly 40 km to Vinh Son commune, where they presented coats to poor students and provided free health check-up for local residents.

The Secretary of Binh Dinh Youth Union Nguyen Xuan Vinh is presenting Tet gifts to students in An Nghia.

“Among 400 students, most of them are poor minority ethnic people,” said the principal of Vinh Son primary school Dinh Van Ngo. “The coats are valuable for them during the extreme weather in the area”.

In An Nghia commune of Hoai An district, the Youth Union coordinated with Tuoi Tre newspaper to hand over 300 presents to disadvantaged villagers. Similarly, the union and Vingroup-funded Thien Tam charity donated 640 Tet gifts to people and students in communes of An Hung and An Toan of An Lao district.

The volunteer campaigns not only contributed to make the recipients have a better the Tet holiday but gave the participant a chance to show their responsibility to the society, said Binh Dinh Vice Chairman Nguyen Phi Long.
