A total of 110 scholarships were granted to disadvantaged students in Binh Dinh yesterday under the The Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and its “For beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa” club.

Former Vice President Truong My Hoa is presenting scholarships to the recipients.

In the academic year of 2019 – 2020, each scholarship, which is worth 1 million VND (43 USD), was given to 50 ethnic minority students in districts of Van Canh, Vinh Thanh, An Lao, Tay Son and Hoai An as well as 60 children of poor fishing families in districts of Phu Cat, Phu My, Hoai Nhon and Quy Nhon City.

According to Former Vice President Truong My Hoa, who is the Chairwoman of the fund and head of the club, this year marks the 20th founding anniversary of the fund. The club was launched in 2014, aiming to give the financial support to children of navy soliders and fishermen, who are safeguarding the country’s sovereignty over the sea and islands.
