Central coastal region to collaborate on economy development

A conference on “Developing cooperative economy, cooperatives in the central coastal region – potential, challenges and solutions” took place in Quy Nhon yesterday.

At the meeting

The participants discussed many issues, including the support for trade promotion, market expansion for agri-forest-aqua products, technology transfer and community tourism.

They also worked out some directions and policies to maximize the potential of cooperatives, mobilize resources for further development, and narrow the poverty gap among localities.

The region now see 1,455 cooperatives; however, the number of cooperatives has gone down. The average income of their members is just VND32 million per capita per year.

Binh Dinh’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Tuan Thanh said that the conference is an opportunity for cooperatives in the region to review their operation, working out solutions to promote the cooperative economy.
