Binh Dinh works hard to respond to EC’s warnings of IUU

Inspecting the fishing ports of De Gi and Quy Nhon on May 5, Binh Dinh’s Vice Chairman Tran Chau asked the relevant bodies to follow the European Commission’s (EC) instructions related to the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

An EC delegation is expected to pay a working visit to Vietnam in late May or early June and they will likely visit Binh Dinh.

The local authorities and relevant bodies are thus required to be more determined in implementing solutions to closely monitor fishing vessles, trace the origin of seafood and ensure the hygiene at fishing ports.

During the inspection trip, Phu Cat district’s Chairman was also criticized for not removing the fishing logistics boats anchoring at De Gi port for a long time.

Vice Chairman Chau also warned the Chairman of Quy Nhon Municipal People’s Committee for not working out any solutions against illegal vessels at Quy Nhon port.
