Binh Dinh's 2017 socio-economic development plan and budget
On January 9, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee held an online meeting with local governments at district and city levels on implementation of resolutions by Binh Dinh Provincial People's Council about 2017 socio-economic development plan and budget. Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Ho Quoc Dung and two deputy chairmen Phan Cao Thang and Nguyen Tuan Thanh co-chaired the meeting.

The Provincial People's Council had approved 19 key targets for 2017 in its 3rd session, said the Deputy Chairman Phan Cao Thang. The targets included GRDP increase by 7.7%; percentages of agriculture-forestry- fishery and industry, construction and services, and product tax minus product subsidy over GRDP respectively would be 25.1%, 41.1% and 5%; increase of industrial production by 8%; total export value would reach US$800 million; total budget revenue of the province would reach 6,128.6 billion VND; total investment into social development would reach 31,490 billion VND, accounting for 48% GRDP.
Three solutions on economic development, socio-cultural improvement and government building up had been proposed to meet the set targets.
Binh Dinh budget revenue in 2016 was over 6,200 billlion VND in spite of challenges such five recent floods.
In 2017, recovery from the flood aftermath should be put on top priority, said the Chairman Ho Quoc Dung. The provincial authorities should review procedures, mechanisms and determine to improve environment, attracting more investors into Binh Dinh; create favourable conditions for enterprises operating in the province to enhance their competitive capacities; continue agriculture restructuring and high tech application into production; try to meet goal of building 10 new-style rural districts.
Tourism should be developed through many ways, particularly building brand of Quy Nhon tourism, turning the city into a new destination in the nationwide tourist map. Budget plan for 2017 should be ensured through tax levy and other sources of revenues. Social welfare of people in flood-hit areas should be ensured, firstly on occasion of the incoming Tet Festival for the Year of Rooster.
