Statue of famous songwriter opens for public

The statue of late musical genius Trinh Cong Son opened for public yesterday in Quy Nhon City, the central province of Binh Dinh.

After three months of construction, the 2.4-metre high-statue features the middle-aged sitting man with a guitar on his hand and a board with lyrics and notes carved on a block of granite. The work features the musician holding a guitar besides the score of a song about beach feelings entitled “Bien Nho”.

The statue is located at a park between Hai Au and Hoang Yen Hotels.

Trinh Cong Son used to study at Quy Nhon University in Quy Nhon City and during that time he composed many popular songs.

Musician Trinh Cong Son was born in 1939 in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue. He passed away in 2001. He wrote more than 600 songs during his career. His music is still widely performed in Vietnam and in Vietnamese communities abroad.
