Work on Nguyen Trung Truc temple kicked off in Phu Cat

A ground-breaking ceremony on a temple dedicated to the national hero Nguyen Trung Truc took place last Saturday in Cat Hai commune of Phu Cat district.

The local authorities are performing the groundbreaking ceremony, starting the construction of Nguyen Trung Truc temple

The temple will be built on an area of 12,000 square meters. The construction costs nearly 14 billion VND (597,000 USD), which is largely funded by Đèo Cả Group JSC.

Born in 1838 in the central province of Binh Dinh, Nguyen Trung Truc moved with his family to the south when the French invaded the central region in the 1850s. He later joined the militia.

He rose to become a partisan leader and assisted Truong Dinh, a Nguyen dynasty mandarin who led a guerrilla army in the south, in fighting the French army.
