231th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da victory celebrated

A celebration to mark the 231th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da victory against Chinese Qing invaders took place on January 28, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year.

The delegates are attending the incense offering ceremony at the Heaven and Earth Altar.

Binh Dinh Vice Chairman Nguyen Tuan Thanh highlighted the great significance of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory under the leadership of Emperor Quang Trung 231 years ago. In the early spring of 1789, Nguyen Hue – who was later Emperor Quang Trung led his Tay Son troop to launch a surprise attack and defeated more than 29,000 invading soldiers in a battle on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, liberating the imperial city of Thang Long and regaining national independence and freedom.

The victory of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da is known as one of the nation’s most remarkable and remembered historical moments, reflecting the country’s great unity and strong will to defeat any invaders.

The local leaders and former leaders are paying tribute at the Tay Son Tam Kiet shrine.

The annual festival is held every year to pay tribute to the great victory of Emperor Quang Trung.

After the ceremony, the delegates and people attended the flower and incense offering ceremonies in front of the statue of Emperor Quang Trung and at Tay Son Tam Kiet Shrine.
