The event took place for the first time in Quy Nhon in 2009, with the participation of 56 athletes. However, kickboxing in Vietnam has seen dramatical growth since then.

This year’s event will be an opportunity to select the best performers for the national squad, who are expected to compete at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines later this year.

During the 10-day event, local kickboxers and other participants are showing their skills and techniques to get the best achievements.

“We hope that young athletes would be given a chance to learn lessons through this event,” said martial arts master Bui Trung Hieu. “We will be able to form a plan to prepare for next generation of kickboxers”.
