Most significant events in Binh Dinh in 2019

The central province of Binh Dinh saw many major changes in different sectors last year. Below are some highlighted events selected by Binh Dinh News.

Conference on the economic development in the Central region

The conference took place in Binh Dinh on August 20, seeking measures for sustainable development in the region, including the Central key economic region.


The region is regarded as a key bridging role in external economic and cultural exchanges and transporting products between Central Highland provinces as well as a most favorable gateway for localities in South Laos, Northeast Thailand and Northeast Cambodia through the East-West Economic Corridor.

At the event, 15 large-scale projects were granted the license to invest in the province with the total capital investment of more than 36 trillion VND.

The adjustment of master plan for Nhon Hoi Economic Zone to 2040

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued a decision approving the task of adjusting the master plan for the construction of Nhon Hoi Economic Zone in the south central province of Binh Dinh towards 2040.

Under the decision, the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone will cover about 14,308 hectares in 2040, with an industrial area of about 12,000 hectares and a Becamex Binh Dinh industrial-urban-service area of 2,308 hectares.

The objectives of the plan is to make the construction of the zone suitable to the national development strategy as well as the maritime development strategy, while turning the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone into a dynamic and sustainable economic hub.

The zone is expected to become a centre for tourism, service, urban, industry, port and traditional sea-base economy, ensuring both economic growth and security-defence.

The inauguration of public administrative centre

Binh Dinh province on April 1 inaugurated its public administrative centre in Quy Nhon City, making it the 21st locality in the country to open such a centre.

The provincial public administrative centre aims to help reduce the time and bureaucracy in handling administrative procedures, and to improve the province’s competitiveness and business environment.

7th international festival of Vietnamese traditional martial arts

The seventh version of the Vietnam international traditional martial arts festival began in Quy Nhon city in the south-central province of Binh Dinh on August 8, attracting 800 domestic martial arts masters and practitioners and more than 200 foreign participants.

The festival was an opportunity to promote not only Vietnamese martial arts but also provincial tourism. It also contributed to popularizing Vietnamese martial arts to the world.

VnExpress International Marathon 2019 in Binh Dinh

The first VnExpress International Marathon took place in Quy Nhơn City on June 9, drawing about 5,000 amateur and professional runners, competing in 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km category.


This was also a chance for runners to challenge themselves on coastal roads and discover the landscape in Quy Nhơn.

The event will be held again in 2020 and co-ordinated by VnExpress and the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and People’s Committee.

First In-vitro fertilised baby born in Binh Dinh

The first baby conceived via in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) in Binh Dinh was born on December 16 at Binh Dinh Hospital, marking the successful technology transfer from Tu Du Hospital to Binh Dinh Hospital.


The hospital previously saw another case of pregnancy through intrauterine insemination (IUI) -- a fertility treatment that involves injecting sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilisation.
