Chairman Dung: People to have enough fresh water

Due to the prolonged droughts, many areas in the central province of Binh Dinh are facing the shortage of fresh water, but the province’s Chairman Ho Quoc Dung asked relevant bodies to make all-out effort to supply enough water for local people.

Going to check the issue in districts of Tuy Phuoc and Phu My yesterday (July 29), Chairman Dung asked Binh Dinh’s Police Department to maintain the supply of water in communes of Phuoc Thuan and My Chanh.

Other agencies were requested to prepare plans for the construction of water supply system, basically ending the shortage of fresh water in Binh Dinh by 2021.

He also demanded the supply of water for paddy fields and alternative options.

According to director of Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Phan Trong Ho, more than 13,000 households in the province haven’t got enough water for daily uses, particularly those living in districts of Tuy Phuoc and Phu My.

The droughts also hit a total area of 481 ha of paddy fields, Ho said.

Tuy Phuoc’s Chairman Nguyen Dinh Thuan said that the shortage of water in some areas is mainly caused by the inadequate capacity of water plants in the district.

He asked the province’s leader to approve a budget plan of 21 billion VND (93,000 USD) for the upgrade of the plant.
